Tales Told in Wood.
Hi, I’m Cory — a woodcarver, painter, and storyteller based in Texas.
My journey into art started early, with comic book sketches and a pocketknife handed to me by my granddad. I reconnected with carving years later, after getting sober, and it quickly became both a creative outlet and a kind of meditation. These days, my studio hums with whittling sounds, half-finished creatures, and the occasional ridiculous idea that turns into something beautiful.
I carve bold, expressive characters — sometimes historical, sometimes imagined, always a little strange. You’ll find busts with oversized noses, bolo ties with personality, and armadillos that look like they’re up to something. I love using natural wood with just a touch of color, and my work is inspired by pop culture, classic Westerns, old Texas sayings, folklore, and things that simply make me laugh.
In addition to carving, I share process videos, weekly whittling prompts, and beginner-friendly courses for anyone curious to try it themselves. Whether you’re here for a one-of-a-kind sculpture, a creative boost, or just to see what’s on my workbench — welcome.
Let’s carve something weird.
